Read this if you’re considering Kesler CPA Review and want an honest breakdown of what it does well, where it falls short, and whether it’s the right fit for your situation.
Disclosure: I’m Bryan Kesler, Licensed CPA (NC #41490) and founder of Kesler CPA Review. This is a review of my own product. I’m going to be upfront about what works, what doesn’t, and who should look elsewhere. My editorial policy applies to all content on this site, including reviews of my own course.
Last updated: February 2026. Features, pricing, and limitations verified against the current platform.
Is Kesler CPA Review Worth It?
Short answer: it depends on what you need.
Kesler CPA Review started in 2015 as the first CPA exam mentorship program. After helping 3,000+ candidates pass, it has evolved into a comprehensive CPA review course that combines study materials, gamification, and mentorship in one platform.
At $97/month (or $997/year), it’s significantly cheaper than Becker ($2,499+), UWorld ($1,999+), or Gleim ($1,999+). But lower price doesn’t automatically mean better value. Here’s where it delivers and where it doesn’t.

What’s Actually Included
Kesler CPA is no longer just a supplement. It’s a full CPA review course. Here’s what you get:
Study Materials:
- 8,000+ multiple-choice questions written from scratch by CPAs and professors (not recycled AICPA released questions)
- 150+ task-based simulations (still expanding monthly, but smaller than Becker’s 500+ or Gleim’s 1,300+)
- 235 lessons across a 3,200+ page digital textbook covering all CPA Evolution sections (AUD, FAR, REG + BAR, ISC, TCP)
- 3,910+ KeslerCards (intelligent flashcards) plus the ability to create unlimited custom cards
Technology & Study Tools:
- Gamification system: Earn XP for every question answered, level up from 1 to 100, unlock achievements (bronze through platinum), build daily streaks for multiplier bonuses
- Cross-Platform Mapping: Aligns Kesler content topic-by-topic with Becker, UWorld, Gleim, and Surgent modules via AICPA blueprints (note: this maps content, it doesn’t sync your progress between platforms)
- Pomodoro Sprint Clock: 25-minute focused study sessions built into the platform
- Study Looping: Automatic review scheduling based on spaced repetition science
- Goal Crusher: Weekly accountability tool with a 95% completion rate among active users
- Mobile apps for iOS and Android that sync with the desktop platform
Mentorship & Support:
- Complete mentorship program covering study mindset, scheduling, routines, time management, test anxiety, and failure recovery
- Accountability partner program

What Kesler CPA Does Well
Based on feedback from 3,000+ mentees and my own daily use of the platform:
The gamification system keeps people studying. This sounds trivial, but it’s the most impactful feature. I’ve tracked this across thousands of candidates: those using the streak system study an average of 22% more days per month than those who don’t. The XP and level system turns “I should study” into “I don’t want to lose my streak.” For candidates who struggle with consistency, this is the feature that matters most.
The questions are genuinely original. Every MCQ is written from scratch and mapped to the AICPA blueprints. You won’t see the same recycled released questions that show up across multiple other platforms. The explanations focus on the WHY behind each answer, not just the what.
Cross-Platform Mapping solves a real problem. If you already own Becker or UWorld, you can use Kesler alongside it without guessing which topics align. The mapping tells you exactly which Kesler lesson corresponds to which module in your primary course.
The price removes the financial barrier. At $97/month with no long-term commitment, you can try it for one month and cancel if it’s not working. No other full CPA review course offers that flexibility. Most lock you into $2,000+ upfront.
The mentorship fills a gap no other course addresses. The major CPA review courses teach you WHAT to study. They don’t teach you HOW to study, how to manage your time, how to handle test anxiety, or how to recover from failure. That’s what the mentorship program covers, and it’s the reason I built Kesler in the first place after failing 5 CPA exam sections myself.
Where Kesler CPA Falls Short (And I Know It)
I built this product, so I know its weaknesses better than anyone. Here’s where it doesn’t measure up:
No video lectures yet. This is the single biggest gap. If you’re a visual or auditory learner who needs an instructor walking you through concepts on a whiteboard, Kesler alone won’t cut it right now. Video lectures are in development for 2026, but they’re not available today. The textbook is comprehensive at 3,200+ pages, but reading isn’t how everyone learns best. If video lectures are essential for you, pair Kesler with UWorld Roger CPA (best lectures) or use Becker as your primary course.
Smaller TBS library. At 150+ simulations, Kesler has fewer task-based simulations than Becker (500+), Gleim (1,300+), or UWorld (400+). We’re adding more monthly, but if TBS volume is your top priority, Gleim or Becker will serve you better right now.
Gamification isn’t for everyone. Some candidates find the XP and level system motivating. Others find it distracting or childish. If you’re someone who just wants to grind through material without game mechanics, Kesler’s personality may not be your style.
No AI tutor. Becker has Newt AI for instant concept explanations. Kesler doesn’t have an equivalent AI-powered tutor. The 1-on-1 video tutoring is more personalized but slower (not real-time).
Who Should Use Kesler CPA Review?
Kesler works well as your PRIMARY course if you:
- Want a complete course for $97/month instead of $2,000+ upfront
- Learn well by reading (textbook-based) rather than watching video lectures
- Respond to gamification and streak-based motivation
- Need mentorship, accountability, and study strategy coaching
- Value original practice questions over recycled AICPA released questions
Kesler works well as a SUPPLEMENT to your existing course if you:
- Already have Becker, UWorld, Gleim, or Surgent and want additional practice questions from a different source
- Failed sections and need a fresh approach with different study tools
- Need the mentorship and accountability that your primary course lacks
- Want gamification to stay motivated alongside a traditional course
Kesler is probably NOT the right fit if you:
- Absolutely need video lectures as your primary learning method (wait for the 2026 video launch, or use UWorld/Becker instead)
- Need the largest possible TBS library (choose Gleim or Becker)
- Want an AI tutor for instant answers (choose Becker with Newt AI)
- Prefer a traditional, no-frills study experience without gamification
Our Cross-Platform Mapping ensures one-to-one topic alignment with UWorld CPA Review, Becker CPA, Surgent CPA, and Gleim CPA Review.

Final Take
I built Kesler CPA Review because I failed 5 CPA exam sections and realized the problem wasn’t the study materials. It was that nobody taught me HOW to study, how to stay consistent, and how to recover when things went wrong.
If that resonates with your situation, Kesler is built for you. If your main need is video lectures and a massive simulation library, Kesler alone won’t be enough right now. Pair it with UWorld or Becker, or choose one of those as your primary course and add Kesler for the mentorship and gamification.
At $97/month, the risk is low. Try it for a month. If it’s not working, cancel. No long-term contract, no $2,000 sunk cost.
